Finally, Cafe Agapita

Overall Rating: 8 out of 10

Before the Enhanced Community Quarantine came to effect in March 2020, Cafe has been gaining attention for its elegant vacation house setting located along the roads to Tagaytay City. Finally, after almost a quarter of operating only for takeout and pick up, it has opened once again its doors to the public.

Observing government guidelines with regards to dine in, foot disinfectants, body temperature checks, and questionaires had been set up to assure the safety of both customers and staff. For convenience, they also have an electronic questionaire available with just one scan of a QR code.

Due to the COVID crisis, the ground floor has been closed with only the second and third floors open for customers. Despite the condition, the allure of a vacation home remains. Dinning in, even with numerous customers, felt like an outing. Huge windows gave the place natural lighting creating a further relaxing ambiance.

For the menu, I tried their Toffeenut Latte (Php 110), Agapita Bun (Php 60), carrot cake (Php 140) and cup of Cappuccino (Php 100).

For the Toffeenut Latte, the latte had been blended well with the Toffeenut flavor. It instantly tasted from the first sip unlike other lattes where the flavor settled in the bottom. For candy and sweet lovers, this is for you - a warm cup of candy sweetness.

Their cappuccino, on the other hand, did alright. A good size mug topped with latte art and sprinkle of cinnamon. Luckily the amount of cinnamon did not ruin the smooth flow of coffee during the sip. Milk foam nicely made with cloudy texture. Steamed milk, however, overpowered the espresso giving it a feel more of a latte than a cappuccino.

The carrot cake, on the other hand, fared well. Generously covered with nice fluffy icing topped with walnuts, it made me enjoy a cake without the guilt of overwhelming sweetness with defined carrot flavor with bits of luscious dried fruits. The walnuts on top also gives me the opportunity to choose whenever I want a nutty and crunchy texture in my cake.

And the last but extremely not the least, their specialty – the Agapita Bun. Only few dish made me cry and this made me. A fluffy pandesal-like bun with delectable savory asado filling paradise only costed almost the same as a siopao in the convenience store. With bun and filing equal in proportion, a single bite already burst with flavors of the asado and the bun. Extremely well even without a sauce. This convinced me to come back and I will and I will buy more for my family. A successful iconic dish that place Café Agapita on the map.

Looking back, Café Agapita’s holds an interesting allure. A must see place for its incredible ambiance and amazing food and drinks. For this allure, I will comeback hungry for more of what Café Agapita has to offer.
